Active style sheet: Orange Glass

The focus of this demo is to show how you can quickly change the graphical appearances of your web site, by simply changing style sheets. But... You could take the opposite approach with your style sheets... That is, you could leave the graphics unchanged, but change the typography and layout from one style sheet to another. (more or fewer columns, etc.) Obviously then, when you combine the power to change both the graphical presentation and the typography, it's a very powerful design advantage.

In this demo, there are various fonts, banner styles, various link colors, various margins, and a mixture of both solid colors and gradients. Each of these items is handled by the individual style sheet, so you don't need to edit any of your individual pages, just to change the layout. (By the way, there are no tables on this page... Only CSS controls.)

Once you've created several layouts, you'll find you can begin to mix and match those elements, and they can be incorporated into future layouts. Later, when you want to visually "tweak" your site, it can be done in much less time. You can have several style sheets in use at once, filtering the content according to the "viewing device". In other words, you can have one style sheet for "print", one for screen readers, one for new portable handheld devices, such as cell phones with wireless internet capability.

Some other ways to present your media, events, etc..

On my site, I use these "strips" for calendar events, links, etc..
They're created here in two classes, so they can be separated by different color backgrounds.

Universal Factoid:

"The percentage of people in a typical population who will actively support artists is approximately the same as the ratio of a black hole's mass to it's parent galaxy's mass.
